GCSE Celebrations Staff and pupils at Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda were celebrating once again this year as 62% of our GCSE results reached A* - C grades. Every single Cymer pupil sitting GCSE's this year has achieved at least 1 grade and around 1/4 of the year group achieved between 10 and 14 GCSE's and include one pupil who sat her GCSE's a year early and attained a remarkable 4A* 8A and 1 B.
Cymer Celebrates Success Again Once again, A-Level and AS Level students at Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda have reaped the rewards of all their hard work after notching up more remarkable grades this year. In all, 98% of all pupils gained at least one A*-E grade at A-Level.
School's Out! Staff at Cymer would like to thank all our pupils and parents for their hard work and support during the year, and wish them all a very happy and safe Summer holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back in September!
Cymer and the Community Cymer opened its doors and welcomed Year 1 and 2 pupils from our local primary school, Cymmer Infants recently to entertain a hall full of parents.

Welcome

It’s a pleasure and honour to present this website to you. It reflects all that’s important to us here in Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda in the heart of the Rhondda Valley – our language, our land, our history and our heritage.

We aim to ensure the best for our pupils in every aspect of school life. Our enthusiastic, committed staff, who give above and beyond what’s asked, work tirelessly to ensure our young people reach the best standards they can in every aspect of school life, so that they are prepared for the future and lifelong learning. Every individual is important to us here in Cymer, and we aim to develop every skill, competency, and ability, by providing broad and exciting educational opportunities appropriate to the twenty first century. We’re proud of the fluent bilingualism of our pupils, as they prepare for their future.

Welshness and respect is at the core of our school life here. Respect for ourselves, others, and our environment. Respect for our language, our past, and our unique culture. We are proud of each other’s achievements and our identity. We aim to create a civilised community which promotes the welfare and development of all.

Our many partnerships are important to us. Our close partnership with the home is essential in order to ensure the highest standards in all aspects of the school’s work, and coherent support for the pupils. This website is an important step in establishing that vital partnership.

We wish our pupils every happiness and success as a member of the Cymer family.
